It was amazing.
The fashion in which he and his army managed to sneak into that heavily defended city, Avalon, and obliterate the church and it’s high king like they were absolutely nothing. The way they managed to get out unscathed while committing a systematic slaughter. It was exhilarating. Climatic. It made his adrenaline flow for the rest of the time back to his home.
It was about nightfall when Sirius Nightshade and the small amount of his armed forced made it back to their home church, the sun beginning to creep down between the mountain peaks once more and allowing for the crescent moon to own all of the light that shined down onto Nu-Guardia.
He and his soldiers came through the broken doors of the church to rounds of applause and pats on the back. Since he had left the majority of the army at home for this elite attack, he was welcomed to an array of congratulatories and thankful words.
As the young overseer of the entire church went up the rickety stairs and stood on the dirty and muddled altar, a smile was continuously plastered on his scarred face.
“Exemplary work, my children,” He began, his chilling voice sounding more giddy than it had ever been, “You have made me, and the gods proud with your work.”
All of the loyalists before him began to cheer once more for their lord Sirius, as well as for the elite regiment of soldiers who had helped him.
“Because of all of our teamwork, we have now made ourselves KNOWN to Mr. Dawn, and his entire nation. We have mentally hurt them, and now we are IN CONTROL!”
The cheers grew louder, their fists pumping up. It was a good thing they were in the outskirts of Telaris, or they would have been easily spotted.
He lifted his head to the ceiling and closed his eyes. “Ohhh how good it felt to hear the agony filled screams of the fatally wounded. The noises of the swords as they cut through skin and bone. The satisfying CRACK as I stomped the Avalon priest’s face into the ground and destroyed his SKULL.”
Sirius turned 180 degrees, his back now turned to his loyalists and towards the only window that wasn’t shattered within the entirety of this desolate and broken down church. It also seemed to glow, even without the glare of the moonlight on it. The thing was, this wasn’t an ordinary window, however. It was actually a mirror, but it wasn’t an ordinary mirror either. To the Court of Nightshade, this was a link. A way to see and talk to the gods that were high above them and watching over them constantly. Today, Sirius would try to get to see them.
Sirius closed his eyes once more, looking towards the mirror. “My lords. Mahlo, Patricia, Alison, and Titus. Allow us to see you, and speak to you as if you were here in front of us. Give us guidance in need, and congratulations in triumph. Allow us to make contact with you, my lords.”
He opened his dark black eyes once more. At first, nothing happened. But after a few moments, the mirror began to glow brighter than the moon above, almost blinding the majority of the Nightshades that were waiting for the gods. After about thirty seconds of the bright glow, it dimmed, and there were figures within the mirror.
Three of the figures were within the shadows, although it was clearly evident that one of them was male, and the other two were female, one of them specifically seeming to wear some sort of armor. The only one that was completely evident was Titus Exodus, the highest god of all of the worshipped deities.
His skin was pale, his hair short and dark black. His eyes were a sea green, and the only clothing adorned on his body being a clean white robe.
“My followers…” Was all he said to begin, his voice booming and firm, one that a god should have. The loyalists all took a collective gasp, inhaling greatly. For the recent followers witnessing his godly stature for the first time, and the old members who had seen him multiple times, they all adored his presence and felt as if it was a new experience.
“My brother in arms,” Sirius replied, his chilling voice for once seeming small in comparison to that of Titus, “I am sure you have seen what my followers and I have done.”
A smile came across the lips of the deity Titus, his sea green hues glimmering with a sense of pride. “I did. I must say, I am proud of you. The only question I have is…” He paused for a moment, glancing right at Sirius himself, “Why are you not attacking the weakened city once more?”
Sirius paused for a moment as well, as he asked himself the question himself. He wondered why he hadn’t thought of that. “My lord…I just thought that two consecutive attacks may be predicted.”
“I DO NOT CARE!” Titus’ voice without warning grew in volume, his lips turning to a frown, directing towards Sirius himself, “You have to GRAB everybody here, and BRING the army back to Avalon while they are sleeping in the early hours, and attack once more while they are unsuspecting of a predictable attack such as that!”
Sirius opened his mouth to protest, but then remembered specifically who he was talking to, quickly nodding. Sirius and the Nightshade loyalists in unison spoke, “Yes.”
His frown suddenly contorted back into a smile, and his mild tone came forth once more. “Good. You leave at dawn in two days, Sirius.”
A sudden flash of light from the mirror blinded everybody in the room, also slightly burning the remainder of red carpet on the aisles and steps. In that moment of blindness, they were gone.
Sirius grumbled to himself underneath his breath, and when he finally got his sight back, looked towards his soldiers, his face now in a snarl. “You heard him, wretches! Get ready to move out, we leave at dawn!!!”
Days passed, and Sirius quickly took the entirety of his followers back out to the trek towards the city, leaving as quickly as he possibly could before feeling the wrath of his fellow god.
