City: Ariya
Rulers: Iseleth of the High Council
Contact: Alchemist
Type: Educational medical center
Description: Ariya was the first Syirithian city to be built to float in the skies. The center of Ariya is the a dormant volcano, Ivyrn (named after the deity), that was extracted from the Aegis Sea. According to Iseleth himself, an Arcanian from Telaris actually argued for nine days with the High Council on the city's construction, after spending a year on the blueplrints for the city. This would explain it's peculiar structures that differ from the original Syirhitan architecture. He insisted that a city above the seas would help the country to flourish, and become more involved with the rest of Nu Guardia.
Philosophers and believers of Science heavily influence the educational and medical departments of Ariya. Professors of the city consistently gather new information from different lands and testing theories themselves. People travel from far distances to receive treatment from Ariyan doctors. Ariya is also the first and only city in Syirith to have a university; The Cage (shown above), to excel in the studies of Astronomy, Medicine, Chemistry, Oceanography, and Aerodynamics. The Cage also has the seven level Library of Ariya, which contains most of the important and historical documents about Syirith, and an 180-spin Observatory located at the top of the dormant Ivryn, both of which are open to the public.
As most of Syirith, Airya has its' share of weather difficulties, though this is extremely significant because a solution has not yet been discovered for the severe thunderstorms and tornados that rip through the area. Occasionally, the wind and water currents that connect Ariya with the rest of the world can be destroyed for days on end, leaving whoever stays in the area left to their own devices.
Defense Force:
Syrithian Aeroforce (60k): The Aeroforce operates quite like the Naval Miliary in the sense that the Generals handle all the disciplinary and educational aspects. They oversee the learning process of all recruits at The Cage. To be even the lowest ranking Aero Officer, one must be a part of a Police Force above land for at least five years, and two years in the High Grounds is recommended. A two hour final exam is given not by their professors, but the Generals that command them. Recruits begin the difficult, technical parts of their training very early in their career, giving them a sense of familiarity with the newly developed Speedos. Also like the SNM, they are experts in all ranges of combat, but some may argue they are better experienced with their martial arts. The SA handles all battle and emergency oriented subjects and is called as a last resort.
Ariyan Police Force (35k): The Ariyan Police Force operates on a personal level with close to all of the occupants of Ariya. They are quick and accurate when it comes to everyday problems, and even more-so when there is an apparent danger. Anyone can enter the Police force, as long as they have martial arts training prior to entry, which causes some tension between the system and recruits, as no other military has this requirement.Along with prior training recruits undergo a six month process which trains them in general areas of physical conditioning, law, and artillery, making them masters of protecting their city.
