For every civilization laws and norms must be put in place to uphold some semblance of order. In much the same way, we here at Nu Guardia would like to uphold that same order. While we try our best to not make rules and regulations to stifle any creativity, to let literally anything fly under the radar unchecked would be bad parenting on our part, and this place is surely our baby. On that note, let us continue.
General Rules
1) Respect is a given. We cannot have a decently running forum where there is no mutual respect between writers, and the sanctity of their characters and work. Even if you do not agree with another roleplayer on Guardia, you are to never blatantly disrespect one another. If a problem arises that honestly makes you upset enough to want to retaliate, then contact an Admin, but we recommend that you handle your personal qualms at ground level.
2) Try. Now this is more of a moral issue than a judicial one, but it is just as important. We all can be jokesters at times, and having a sense of humor sure isn't a bad thing, in fact, comic relief is good if you ask me. However, please do not purposefully create characters whom lack any sort of depth and make roleplays that make no sense and threaten to misrepresent our forum. Everything has its place, but too much of it can be a bad thing. Just like we don't want to be about business all day, we also don't want someone who can't write critically. Make an honest effort to write well with your peers.
~Mature Content~
1) Nu Guardia, all-in-all can span from PG, to rated R entirely depending on the writers desire. We allow for swearing, just try not to curse for the sake of cursing. We allow for mature content, just don't overdo it. We allow you free reign with what maturity level to write on.
2)Nu Guardia is open to creativity, regardless of how that creativity is played. However, excessively vulgar, explicit material will not be allowed. If you'd like to write out a scene of lovemaking, then by all means do it, just attempt to keep it rated PG 13. Please do not start cyber sexing via our forum. there are Pm's, and other sites for that. If it is crucial to your story, then write a beautiful love scene that could put any Twilight novel to shame. In fact, we encourage that.
2)On to obscene gore. Now we have all got our plunderers, our rapists, our sodomy and all of that stuff that is so famous for your day to day psychopath, and we love it. Every bit of it. But let's not get into some Texas chainsaw-esque stuff with the way we describe these events. In a nutshell, don't be too explicit.

1) We are all about creative freedom in Guardia, and our slogan is "If you can makeit, you can play it", but we have to hold some kind of checks and balances to this. We can't have all powerful Gods from the fifth dimension come into our world and just destroy everything because he is a God from the fifth dimension. We do have power standards here, differing from T1 tournaments to average rp. No all-powerful characters may exist within Nu Guardia at any time. A character who can collapse dimensions, and sail through the universe on the blood of fallen planets just doesn't make for good writing half the time, and when it does, it is still unfair to participating writers. If you have a God character, his or her power must, and I mean must be restricted to something acceptable here.
In essence, if your character could by any means take out even a small city by himself or without so much as a small army to help him, then he is probably too powerful and should be trimmed down. We like to think metahumans(characters who exceed normal human capabilities) are fine, but when your character can take out dozens of NPC's by himself with brute force, there will be problems. If you want exact directions for what we look for in characters here you can pm Myself, Poet, Faustus, or Alchemist.
I suppose the key word here is "balance". Characters should not have titanium hard skin, anti-energy barriers, ludicrous amounts of fire power, able to tap into and use magic/other forms of energy control, and be master hand to hand combatants. These are called Sues. A sue is a character who has no balance, and is essentially great at anything and everything they put their minds to. A more balanced character is one who understand the greater magical algorithms, but is only sufficient with martial arts, and vice versa. Someone with titanium hard skin should be highly susceptible to non-mundane attacks, and again vice versa. Remember our characters are living in real, breathing world. We would like to hold some semblance of realism in it. If you want to take over a city/country/kingdom, you will need to prepare, build your forces, and have a set strategy to breach their defenses and overpower their military. You cannot, and should not just barge in guns blazing and think that will work because you are just so powerful.
Your character should also not count for an army by himself. What this means is, your character who owns an army should not be able to match the power of his entire army, or take on stupid amounts of enemies at once while any one person in your army can only handle maybe three tops. While your character can be stronger than the rest of his force,(an example would be your best general can handle 3 npc's with ease, while your character can take out 5)he should not equal his entire force.
2)The general power standard for any character in Nu guardia is "building Busting". This means with their strongest attack, the most they'd be able to do is collapse a building. We know this gets subjective, and you'd have to take things into consideration like "what is the size of the building?" So for all intents and purposes, the power cap is building busting, that building being the size of a moderately sized office building. You know the ones? Tall with all of that reflective glass?
3) No controlling other peoples characters unless explicitly given permission. Implying things like an arrival and such are okay, but do not outright tell someone what their character does in a situation.
4) Auto-hits in tournaments are never okay. However, in the day to day writing we will do in the world of Nu Guardia, autohits are lenient. No auto-hits may be made that could in any way mutilate or kill the character. Simple things like slaps, a punch, or a kick may be said, but note this also does not mean the other participant has to agree to this. If it will somehow handicap the other character, then it just isn't allowed.
5) More of a moral issue, but important nonetheless. When participating in a thread, try to post in a timely manner when it is your turn as to not slow things down for anyone else. If you are unable to post, try to inform the organizer of the rp, or everyone involved individually to let them know.
6) Character death is a constant possibility. Everything that happens in Nu-Guardia very well can become canononical, this means if your character dies, they are dead, and further use of them will not be allowed. But this is a land of creativity. If you can think of a story in which a new character or a group of characters can revive a fallen character, you are free to do so, but the rp in which the character is revived will need to be completed in order for us to recognize him/her/it as living again.
7)While you are free to make whatever character you'd like, keep in mind you will still in some respect be at the mercy of the moderator of whatever nation you are in. If you create space travelling power armour wearing character, and try to go to a nation where tech is really looked down upon, and may even deactivate tech upon entry, you will need to abide by these rules. Keep this in mind when creating characters.
