There used to be this place you see, a place where there was nothing but walls.
It was like one huge giant maze, and we all wanted to know what was at the center.
Little did we know that there was no way to the center.
No way at all, not unless you are one of them.
Alavil was a city never even existed on the maps until a rumor was spread all through Syirith of immeasurable wealth was placed within a maze. A maze that rested on the side of a mountain. Adventures and treasure hunters from all regions of Syirith and even Telaris gathered together and acted as a team. For if the rumors were true, all of them would be able to live like kings for the rest of their lives.
And so, the group gathered all renowned adventurists and hunters, they searched for the legendary place. Days went by as they scaled every mountain in Syirith. Some died along the way, all in noble efforts as they battled through monsters, and even enemy groups who were there to mooch off the rewards or were simply there to target the main hive. Others deserted the quest, for they deemed it to dangerous and not worthy of their time after weeks had past. Months later, they had found it. The infamous maze that held the treasure.
But what they had found, was not treasure at all. What they had found, was an extinction of a long lost tribe. On the walls had murals, murals that were so well crafted, so detailed that the scenes of basic life were captured. It was as if the people who lived here themselves became a part of the wall. The group walked within the maze, easy to navigate around as they formulated a plan to create a map. As they completed it, they found the center to be barren. Not barren as in no treasure, but barren on the map because they were not able to reach it yet. The center didn't exist, not a single soul was able to reach it. They thought about tearing down the walls and creating a path, but the nights that they spent within the walls left them feeling a different way.
At night, it is said to believe that the murals come to life. That the figures on wall appears in the current dimension, walking around as if they were ghost. Laughter can be heard, figures can be seen moving in the dark, but yet there was no proof that these strange occurrences had happened. The equipment was brought in to blow up the wall, only to not work at all. In fact, no magic at all could affect these walls. A powerful spell protected it from pure destruction, so the group formulated another plan. Flight. With the power of flight, they would be able to fly into the center. One of the members who specialized in abjuration was already on his way. Only to stop at the height of the walls, as an invisible force stopped him from going any further, creating a ceiling of its own. They decided to move outside of the max and try it from there, the same thing happened as a force prevented individuals from entering the maze from above. That is when a little girl appeared, right at the beginning of the maze. She held a doll, and a smile. She laughed, chuckled, and giggled at the men and women. All of them were in shock, no one else was here but them, let alone a little girl. They moved towards her, but she turned around and ran. Ran right into the wall and simply moved right through it. That is when they knew that, they were not alone in this maze. They were in someone's home.
