So, I am sure you have noticed that, thanks to the administration keeping an eye out for great new things to add to this forum to make it our own little world, we have set in place a new monetary system to Guardia! Now I am sure this may bring up some questions, such as What is it? How do you earn money in this system? What do we use the money for? How do you buy and sell on the forum? I am here to answer all those qustions. Let's start with the most basic, shall we?
What is the Guardia Monetary System?
The system in Guardia actually changes IC from place to place. Telaris uses various metal forms of currency like copper, tin, silver and gold, while syirith deals in particular crystals and minerals. However, there is a universal currency, called Emeral, and it is the equivalent of paper money in Nu Guardia. I won't go into the really nitty gritty aspects of it like how it effects economy and such, but it is an important factor. Every member who joins Nu Guardia has a chance to earn money(emeral) equally, and there are various ways to go about it.
1. Posting on the forum.
2. Getting involved in behind the scenes work on Nu Guardia.
4.Putting money in the bank and adding to your count through interest(4%)
4. Having money donated by another member.
5. Various IC faculties.
Option one is the most ready-available way for new and old members to make money. Be warned, though, the only way to earn money through posts is to post in the current IC categories and boards(Telaris, Syirith). You earn no money for posting outside of these(People don't earn money for lollygagging, after all!). For every IC post you earn five(5) Emeral, ten(10) for every thread you start. May not seem like much, but when combined with other methods of earning money, it is possible to end up with more than what you know what to do with.
Option two is code for contribute to the forum.(This could be lore writing/editing, join staff, ect.) Constant contributors can earn actual wages(an additional boon of money per a certain amount of posts)with hard work.
Option three is a speedy way to earn a little extra cash. If you have money laying around that you aren't quite sure what to do with, yet, you can deposit it in your bank. As the money sits there, it accumulates interest every 24 hours, giving you a bit extra to work with. In other words, saving up!
Option Four is pretty self explanatory. If you are a low, poor, filthy ingrate who needs a few extra dollars for his/her next fix,(jk <3)you can ask a more financially gifted member to donate to you.
Option five is quite interesting, because it brings an In Character aspect to this system. Note that you very well CAN start a business, that can be run from the market place, in which you sell items for profit. You also can sell specific items of your character(s), or the whole character himself on the market place. There really is no limit to what you can buy and sell IC. Is your character a member of a canon business? A canon military? You can earn extra money via the characters paygrade by your employer. Is your character a sellsword? Put him on the marlet as looking for work, and name a price for his services.
What is the money for?
Great question. We cannot institute an incentive program like this, and then offer no incentive, right? Well let me go over that incentive. Emeral(money) is used to buy various things both OOC and IC. As of now, the only OOC use is for if you want to buy a form of board or category you want to be added to official lore in the world. Additional OOC uses are being worked on such as custom username colors, titles, and post effects. You can buy a city, kingdom, land, or entire continent and write it as your own personal place. Note, if you write a kingdom, city, or land that is set inside another board leaders continent, then it must still abide by that board leaders rules.
IC, there is an almost limitless amount of things to buy. The market place will have national markets where characters can buy sanctioned products, weapons, and apparel on the national scale. There will also be personal markets, ran by members who own businesses that are approved and canon, where they may sell their wares. Characters also may sell their own personal belongings, or found treasures without need of any market(This would be done through donating the points to the person you are buying from in exchange for using their creative material, be it a sword, potion, or otherwise.)
This all sounds awesome, but how do I actually give and take money?
In the market place, anything you buy from the national markets(or otherwise stated markets) should be traded via donating the listed amount as per the item you are buying dictates, to the Bank of Nu Guardia account here on, Guardia. You cannot use the item until your donation is approved and verified. Do not worry, if you donate your money, and it for whatever reason is not approved, you will always receive a full refund.
If you are selling something on the market, it works in much the same way, though instead of the interested party(or parties) donating the required amount to the Bank of Nu Guardia, they would donate it to the member who is selling the item(s) to them. The members cannot use the sellers wares until the seller verifies the exchange of money, and gives some form of written permission. Foul play will not be tolerated. Cheating people out of money, or using items that were on the market that you didn't pay for will be met with administrative repercussions.
Note: Anything listed on the market, be it personal, local, or national cannot be used without the writers consent in any form.
Ex: Uru, an energy absorbing metal will not be allowed to be placed into a characters sheet or repertoire without either proof of purchase, or proof of it being attained through IC means, in which an administrator will decide if the work put in is equal to the reward received.
