Geography
Syirith is primarily located in the eastern hemisphere of Nu Guardia. The country a mildly sized archipelago with islands that begin timidly on small pieces of land but flourish under the Archaic and Aegis Seas, which the natives call the High Lands, and large floating cities that are powered by Syirith's life force, the Iltra, labeled the LoweGrounds (Yes, there is historic reasoning behind these ironic names). This country is infamous for its unpredictable weather. The LoweGrounds has frequent tornadoes and thunderstorms while the High Grounds have massive flooding and reoccurring shifts on the techtonic plates near the underwater islets. Although in other countries this dubious weather could lead to disaster, Syirith has become well accustomed and has even begun to use the weather to their advantage (See Magic and Technology below).
Magic, Technology, and Iltra
As stated above Iltra is the ultimate life source of Syirith. In it's original crystal form, it powers nearly all of the technology in the area and gives vitality to everyone in its'vicinity. It rejuvenates the skin, gives energy, and ecstasy to everyone who cares to partake. Iltra is known to have healing properties, which makes Syirith a hot spot for those who want to make medical discoveries. Not only can Iltra be found at the base of the floating cities of the LoweGrounds, but found beneath the sea floors of the underwater islands. Iltra is accessible to everyone and anyone, but is not permitted to leave the country, as lack of the substance can lead to sickness, chaos, and even bring death among the natives. Iltra is often sold in small quantities in jewelry, fabric, and pottery as well.
The main means for transportation are large, Iltra-enhanced air and water currents that navigate through Syirith. Some water currents extend hundreds of miles into the air to reach the Lowegrounds and the air currents the same for the High Grounds. They are popular tourist attractions because the air currents feel are comfortable despite their rapid speed, and the water currents because the traveler remains dry, not to mention these currents can transport even the most massive of objects in a matter of seconds.
For the few bits of technology that are not powered by Iltra, magic is the other widely recognized alternative, especially in the Syirithian Military. Electricity is very rare in Syirith and seen as not needed by the natives.
Government
The country of Syirith is ruled by an oligarchy, which is comprised of two sons; Iseleth, Seraphiel, and one daughter, whos name remains unknown, of the god Ivyrn, who created the country and all of its contours. The group, the High Council, controls all legislative, executive, and judicial decisions, while listening to the voice of their people before making their calls (or so it seems). It is rumored that the unnamed daughter has the final say in what goes in Syirith, and has complete control over her brothers, despite the apparent oligarchy image. Although the main headquarters for the High Council are at the base of Osceaux, they often travel to the Lowegrounds to keep the order of things.
Syirith has an excellent naval military, with magictech powered battle ships and submarines that are able to travel long distances if needed. The sailors that are employed by the High Council are hand chosen at birth, and remain military men until death.
The Aero Military is fairly new in Syrith, but has made significant and admirable magi-technological advancements to protect the Lowegrounds such as Speedos (similar to Earth's fighter jets).
Although Syirith may seem battle ready, the High Council tries its' best to avoid war. Their main concern is the protection of the people and Iltra. At best, Syirith is a peaceful country.
Syirith has a very simple currency, and it is as follows:
Crest (A cube of tin with the symbol of Syirith located on all faces): 100 Crest are equal to 1 Gem
Gem (A shard of red stone with the golden crest of the High Council): 10 Gems are equal to 1 Prize
Prize (Holds the highest currency, a rectangular sheet of gold)
Religions:
Happiness - This is the major religion throughout Syirith. It is a monotheistic faith, the god being the creator of the country and Iltra, Ivyrn. Happiness is a very strict belief of peace at any cost. Everything and anything is a gift from Ivyrn, and all things have the life force, Iltra and should be regarded with respect. Although the main theme for this religion is tranquility, the system contradicts itself. Worshipers of Ivyrn are firm believers in "An eye for an eye". All the details and information is concerning this religion unclear, especially to some foreigners. When natives are asked what religion they are a part of the most common response is "I am Happy."
Happiness only one subcategory that worships not only the god Ivyrn, but the High Council, as they are his direct offspring. They are considered to be extremist, and often very involved politically. Foreigners are seen as untouchables that only wish to take the life source away from Syirith. They are treated harshly and not permitted in any public places owned by natives of this faith.
Iltrism - The worship of the life source, Iltra. It is believed that Iltra itself created all things alongside Ivyrn, and that after death they will become a part of this energy. These people often create the poetry, jewelry, and clothing laced with Iltra that make Syirith famous. This religious group also consumes Iltra by inhaling it (for recreation and ritually). It is believed by doing this they will increase their lifespan and give them significantly more knowledge than they would have had without inhaling it. There has been no evidence of this thus far.
Science - Although small in followers, there is a philosophy that states science is the answer to everything, that everything from the life source Iltra to the god Ivryn can be scientifically explained. This group receives a lot of negative criticism from the other religious groups, but fights vigorously for more scientific advancement in Syirith. This cluster is primarily located in the LoweGrounds.
