It was finally time. After a short amount of time of concentrated preparation on the parts of Sirius Nightshade and his religious followers, the plan was set in motion. As the sun began to peek out from the mountains, it’s orange light shining through the shattered windows of the abandoned church, Sirius looked out towards his peers, the excited feeling in the room seeming to pour outwards in everyone’s expressions.
The scar on his face, given to him by a Solarist who intended on murdering him so long ago, seemed to burn like a flame was on the side of his face on this day. He would finally return the favor for that day. He would send a message to all of Telaris. After all of these years, they were back, and prepared to destroy.
A cold smile creeped upon his lips, his soulless eyes boring deep into the loyalists before him. “Today is the day, my children,” He began, his voice booming down the aisles, “Today is the day that we bring Telaris to it’s rickety KNEES. We will infiltrate their most profound city-state and send a raging message that the Court of Nightshade must be acknowledged!”
His smile grew wider, his fangs showing, his tongue running across his lips as he could no longer help himself. It would almost be like a never ending climax, feeling the warmth of Solarist blood on his hands, the crunch of their skulls as he stamped their faces deep into the dirt. The feeling would be like no other.
“Now, are you ready to obliterate the Church of Telaris, my children?” He said in his chilling voice.
The crowd seemed to be all for it, all of his religious loyalists excited and ready to send Telaris the message.
“I don’t think I heard you….I said, are you READY to have Telaris see the TRUTH?!”
The crowd’s excited nature grew, cheers sounding throughout the church as everyone within the room screamed a resounding YES. Sirius’ cold smile seemed to grow wider, just when nobody else thought it could get any wider than it originally was. The beauty of this moment was like no other.

The power of the Nightshades was very expansive, each shared power being both unique and benevolent in virtually all circumstances that were tossed at them. The shared powers would be acquired once the members expressed their undying love for the gods that created this world and the religion, and made their sacrifices needed to please said gods.
One of the shared powers that every Nightshade would need in swift attack, and even swifter retreat, was the power to quite literally merge with the dark black shadows that resided in just about every area of every place. Including Telaris. The power would be what would eventually help them get into the place that they had aimed to go to: The wonderful city of Avalon, where the church is located.
As the sun finally shined it’s bright light fully onto the grounds below, their opportunity had come. With so many shadows abound due fully to the sunlight, it would be quite easy to get around and past the major defenses. Sirius and his group of about 200 trained and combat ready followers continuously merged with the various shadows of trees, plants, and buildings, swiftly and carefully making their way to Telaris. The few faces that turned up, walking around the forests to have some solitary confinement, a day out with the family, or to cry about how sorrowful their life was, were swiftly killed by Sirius’ army, as they exited from the confines of their shadows and plunged their knives deep into the gullets and vocal cords of the people that they came across, whether it was man or woman, child or newborn baby. They were all mercilessly slaughtered and placed within the lakes or forests that they had come across at Sirius‘ strict command. Nobody would ever have the ability to tell the defenses about the approach of his army.
After what was about two to three hours but seemed like days to the impatient Sirius, they had made it to the city-state of Avalon, where defenses were abound, at the very least on the outside entrance to the city-state itself. Sirius knew an outright attack would be suicide for his army with the cannons. They would have to remain within the shadows, which wasn’t difficult whatsoever with the large shadows of the great walls that surrounded the city. That great wall would eventually be their eventual mistake.
He and his army merged with the shadows of the walls, making them unseen to people that even walked within the shadows themselves, stepping around the wall until they found the entrance. The entrance was, quite obviously, guarded.
“So many defenses,” He muttered to himself, “This must be a more beneficial place to attack than I had initially thought.” That made a cold smile come across his face.
Knowing that they could not get through the gates with any sort of ease, Sirius commanded that they bided their time, awaiting another hour or so, about 9AM, where the sun was in the right position where the entrance was perfectly shadowed, as well as the guards. The army would one by one merge with the shadow of the guard, and roll into the shadow of the doors/gates, awaiting for the rest. Sirius would come last, rolling through into the shadows. With such precision and grace by the leader, they were within the confines of the most heavily guarded city-state of Telaris.
