And just like that, he felt a candle flicker out. He stopped his scheming, and brought his pencil back to the inside of his suits jacket, and destroyed his half-finished spellcircle. The final ember of life had left Terrence Le'Blanc.
"So, it is done, then?" Although it was a question, Faustus spoke it with a certain sense of assuredness that it sounded more like a statement.
He climbed out from his hole, and back into the courtyard, where the sun was finally drawing its final breath on the edge of the mountains. Where once was a man, was now a pile of rocks dissheveled from the failing constitution of the delapidated temple. Faustus came to the mans makeshift tomb of earth, and moved the rocks out of the way, until he found Terrence's corpse. For a long while he stood there, knees bent, just staring at the mans lifeless body, as though he were in deep thought.
Then, he reached into his pocket, and revealed a golden coin. It depicted a strange figure, with intense eyes, and a head of snakes, and on the 'Tails' side, a quote that read "Ignorance is the night of the mind." He placed the coin on the corpse, and got up, walking towards the way he came into the temple.
"When you wake up, you will hear my voice, but not be able to remember my face. When you wake up, if you want power, real power, then seek me out."
Faustus vanished. His coin thrummed with a power that would inject the life back into Terrence's body just as he stood on the brink. Whether he was smart enough to know it was Faustus who saved him or not, could not be said.
